Saturday 2nd May 2015 – When you’re told not to do something

Hello all – it’s Ari here, wishing you a happy weekend.

Yesterday was not fun. I spent the whole day with the burning urge to walk on the office floor. The problem was that I’d been told NOT to walk in there. Our Mistress had decided it was time to apply a new coat of varnish to the floor. Well, two coats if we’re being strictly accurate. It’s being done in two parts, so all the furniture was piled up at one end of the room and there was this lovely open expanse of floor at the other … with wet varnish… perfect to make a pattern with doggy paw prints. Oh it was killing me not going in to see what I could do. I resisted, you’ll be pleased to know, but it really did take more than all my willpower to achieve it. I was thinking of adding a smiley face with maybe a little hair made from extra mud. It would have been very artistic. Still, if things go to plan I shall get another opportunity next weekend when she does the rest of the floor. What was funny was when she moved the chest of drawers and in amongst large handfuls of hidden dog hair there were some dog treats. It took a lot of willpower to accept we were not going to be allowed to help ourselves from amongst the dirt, but our Mistress was under the impression they wouldn’t be good for us as she didn’t know how long they had been there.

RJK Lo-res-118I know Alfie has been showing you some of the photos from the photo shoot, but I thought I’d show you the lovely photo of me with our Mistress in case you haven’t seen it. She’s said we can have a copy of it to go up on the office floor where she’s already got pictures of Alfie and Otto (Chekov). There is a tiny one of my in a frame from when I was a puppy, but it will be nice for there to be a bigger one.
