For Christmas and his birthday my Mistress bought my Master the opportunity to go to a race track and drive some fast cars. For my last birthday I think I had some dog treats. Now I know I like food, but where is the justice? I’d like the opportunity to drive some fast cars. I did ask my Master if he’d like to swap but strangely he laughed at me. He’s doing his driving day in another week and I was wondering if I could distract him and go in his place. There might be a bit of an issue in reaching the pedals but I’m sure they must allow short people to go, so there must be a way round it. It is not as though I’m even allowed to watch. Although to be fair, watching him enjoying himself would only add insult to injury. Dogs really do get a rough deal. I may come over as your pipe and slippers sort of dog, but underneath I’m just longing for adventure – although thinking about it, I’d probably prefer the adventure to be fairly quiet and not involve too much walking. Aristotle on the other paw would probably be up for just about anything if he were allowed to try it. In this instance the best we’re likely to get is being shown the pictures when he gets back and we’re supposed to then say things like ‘How nice’ and ‘don’t you look great!’ I shall be saying them through gritted teeth, if I can bring myself to say them at all.
Shadow is utterly fed up with resting. She says it is really not her thing and it has made her realise that getting older is a bit of a downer. I guess she’s reached that point in middle age when you first realise you aren’t going to be young forever. I think Ari and I need to see if we can work out a way to cheer her up – although clearly it isn’t going to involve driving a fast car!
