Wednesday 8th April 2015 – Office dogs

We heard from Megan a few days ago and she’s very well. She is completely settled with her new family in Germany and seems to be happy, which is wonderful news. Aristotle says he’s really missing her at the moment, especially as Shadow is still not being allowed to play with him. He can’t wait for Shadow to be better as he really enjoys having someone to chase and play tug with and I’m just past all that.

I think I’m going to be able to go to see my girlfriend again soon, which is very exciting. I do wish she lived closed so I could spend more time with her. Ari said I should give up on her and find a girl nearer to home, but I’m just not that sort of dog. It took me nearly nine years to find a girl I liked, I’m not going to give up on her now.

There was a report last week saying that office workers are too sedentary. I’ve thought of a solution. If every office had an office dog then they could all take turns to go out for walks accompanied by the dog in their breaks. Instead of standing on the corner of the road having a cigarette they could take the dog to the park and throw a ball for the dog to drop out of reach so they had to keep moving to pick it up. Just think how much healthier we could make them all. It might even be a way of improving office productivity. One of the team could take the dog home in the evening and maybe they could take that in turns so everyone got to benefit. It could be the beginning of a whole new way of working. The dog could also be involved in calming difficult situations in the office. He (or she) could sit in on meetings and when he thinks a difficult situation is arising he could go and nuzzle the member of the team that was showing signs of stress. It has to be the way forward.
