Today is Friday 13th February. February has 28 days. That means you can look forward to another Friday the 13th next month. Now I’m not a superstitious dog but I can’t help thinking that having them in consecutive months is just asking for trouble. I did suggest to our Mistress that today might not be the best day to get the paintbrushes out and start on the redecorating work, but that was mainly driven by my desire not to have to help. Besides which I’m still recovering from the upsetting sound of the nail gun yesterday. I really didn’t like that. The drill, the saw, the electric screwdriver – all of those were ok, but the nail gun startled me and I had to hide under the desk with our Mistress between it and me in the hope that she would protect me. Ok, I admit I’m a coward. I’d fight an assailant to the death to protect her, but I would not stand in the way of any sort of gun – or for that matter any other thing that goes bang – a balloon would do it!
It wasn’t an easy day all round yesterday. Our Mistress wasn’t feeling well, which with all the noise meant that she wanted to curl up under the desk as well, but I was in that spot.
Anyway, don’t tell them, but I’m really looking forward to seeing Shadow and Aristotle later today. I shall of course act all nonchalant and pretend I don’t care, but deep down I’ve realised that I don’t want to be an only dog. Oh, I’ll be complaining about them again before any time is up, but I don’t want to be without them. It’s just plain weird.
