Our Mistress is ordering the things we need to build the patio in the garden. The ground is not level so she needs to build one side up. She’s made a list of what we need and for that she wants some ‘hardcore’. However, she has now made a mental note that searching on the Internet for ‘hardcore’ is NOT a good idea! Don’t try this at home. Most of the suggestions were for links she thought it better not to follow and most certainly did not involve building products. Just in case you ever need to know, it’s far better to put in ‘aggregates’ as there are rather less in the way of pornographic suggestions! I went out with her when she was measuring up and we got into a discussion about what to do by the back fence behind the summerhouse. I said some good muddy soil we could dig in would be nice, but she wasn’t too keen. She suggested gravel, but I pointed out that young puppies have the occasional tendency to pick up and swallow things like that, which wouldn’t be good. She has said we’ll come back to that part of the plan. I was hoping she’d go down the route of some bark or wood chips as I rather like the occasional munch on those, but I think she feared that might come under the same heading as gravel. We do have two big containers of compost, but sadly Ari finds that irresistible so it can only be used in the front garden! She is already being mean by choosing vegetable planters that are sufficiently raised off the ground that we can’t just help ourselves to the produce! This compromise thing seems to be all one way and it’s never in our favour.
