Tuesday 28th October 2014 – Not for the Squeamish

Sorry to those of you who are squeamish, living in the countryside that is less of an option. You only have to think about the rabbit carcass I was told to put back where I’d found it on my walk yesterday to realise that. Anyway, Operation Mickey and Minnie has been a success. Yesterday when the builder arrived to properly board the loft, he was greeted by two traps that had been successfully activated. Of course, we don’t know if there are others, so the operation is not over, but at least we have confirmed that their presence was current and that the traps work. My Mistress in her usual zeal bought every type of trap that the hardware store sold, eight in total. She wanted to conduct an experiment to see which were the most effective. Interestingly it seems to be the ones that were the cheapest that have worked best so far. Once the work in the loft is complete the traps will be reset and then checked at intervals to see if there are still any friends or family to gather up!

I had a difficult choice to make yesterday. Now that I’m back to wanting to walk, my Mistress made me decide whether I want to have two short walks or one long one. Apparently I can’t have both, although I don’t see why not. I tried my luck and said I’d like one long one and went with the morning expedition. When it came to the afternoon I tried to say I was going again, but my Mistress was not to be fooled. I was told in no uncertain terms I could go in the car, but I would not be getting another walk. I knew she’d weaken. I can wrap her round my little paw. I did only get a little walk second time round, but I knew she wouldn’t deny me that!
