Thursday 18th September 2014 – A lazy day

I think it’s the change in the weather, but yesterday was one of those days where all we wanted to do was sleep. I curled up in my favourite blue bed by my Mistress’s desk. Shadow curled up on the settee facing the desk and apparently at one point mine and Shadow’s breathing was completely in tune and we were snoring alternately. Ari was curled up in the bed by the fire, hoping my Mistress would light it. He was the only one not snoring. My Mistress said listening to us all she was just jealous that she couldn’t go and curl up somewhere and go to sleep herself too. She said what we all needed was a nice brisk walk and it would make us all feel a lot better, the problem was that none of us actually felt like doing anything very brisk.

I know there is a while to go yet, but my Mistress has been thinking about what she would like to call the puppy we hope to get next year. She wondered about Heidi and then my Master suggested Boadicea. Now she isn’t sure. She said she would like another name like Aristotle that is a little unusual for a dog. She’d really like it to be one that was an iconic woman, but her suggestions of Emmeline or Pankhurst didn’t meet with approval. She’s got plenty of time for ideas, so hopefully will come up with something. All this wanting ‘great’ names is making me think I should revert to my birth name of Einstein. Shadow may not use her birth name, but she certainly behaves like a little princess! On balance, I think I’ll stick with Alfie. Somehow is seems softer and more approachable than Einstein and I don’t think I’m really clever enough to live up to the name anyway.
