Sunday 14th September 2014 – A long day in the car

Travelling is tiring. I know all I had to do was curl up on the back seat, but by the time we’d driven 400 miles I was ready for a sleep. My Mistress kept saying ‘Look at that view, Alfie,’ but by the time I’d put my head up above the window ledge the view was back to trees or motorway. We had regular stops so I was able to have a good sniff and I even remembered to drink on route today, rather than wait until we arrived and then drink gallons. Some of the journey was spent in sorting things out for other dogs. It’s quite exciting. Eiger, our only qualified stud dog in the UK is on his way to the Netherlands to have his ectopic ureter test. As long as that goes well he will be able to be used as a stud dog by girls in other countries, which would be very exciting. Then we had news that Aida has started her season and her owner is able to take her to Switzerland to meet a stud dog if it can all be arranged quickly. After all the setbacks we’ve had this year, it would be such good news if Aida were able to have a litter. We are all desperately crossing our fingers and hoping that everything will come together for her. Another litter of puppies born this year would be wonderful news. It was also lovely when one of my Mistress’s friends invited me to go to stay when Shadow goes to mate next. I’ve got to have a long talk about it with my Mistress as it would mean Aristotle staying at home on his own and he’d get lonely, but my Mistress just loves having me with her so I’m hoping I can get round her. I’d like to see my parents’ country of birth in the snow.

One important thing on the journey today, we did find a supermarket to stock up on Belgian beer for my Master, so he’s very happy now.
