Our humans took advantage of the nice day yesterday and went to Castle Howard, without any of us! It’s insult enough to be left out of the visit, but to have them come home smelling of other dogs really adds insult to injury. My Mistress’s explanation didn’t make it much better. They had decided to have a dog free afternoon. That in itself is bad enough, but in her words after about two hours she starts missing us too much. So what does she do? Does she come rushing home to see us, full of apologies and promising never to go out without us again? No. Instead she makes the acquaintance of an eight month old Husky puppy. What is the world coming to when she comes home smelling of Husky. Oh so she reassured us by saying she would never want to own a Husky, but it’s too little too late as far as I was concerned. I would have quite enjoyed an afternoon out, although admittedly my refusal to go for walks hasn’t gone in my favour on that one. Shadow is still not completely better and it would have been too much walking for Aristotle, but my point stands. That is no reason to make friends with a Husky!
Shadow is still very jumpy as well as under the weather. It is leading to her howling, which is really not like her at all. That is setting me and Ari on edge so things are a little fraught. When I say ‘things’ I essentially mean our Mistress. Her patience is wearing very thin with us at the moment. Hopefully another day or two will settle everything down.
I overheard my Master and Mistress discussing names for our next puppy. It seems my Master favours names such as ‘Storm’ while my Mistress is thinking more along the lines of ‘Heidi’ which she says would be nice for a Swiss dog. She has said I can watch the film Heidi with her to see what I think. The reaction of my Master I’m not sure if I should be pleased about the offer or not.
