I’ve accused of being fussy over my walks. What is wrong with wanting a little variety? Dogs like Aristotle might be happy to go to the same place day in, day out, but I’m a more discerning dog and I want change in my old age. I’d got fed up with always walking on the airfield of the moors so we started going to a footpath in a neighbouring village now. There are another couple of walks in our own village, but both involve going past dogs I don’t really care for. Anyway, we’ve now done the walk in the neighbouring village a few times so I’m ready for the next place. Two days running I’ve said I’ve seen enough when we’ve barely got out of sight of the car. Yesterday, my Mistress tried taking me along the road in the other direction from the car and I was more than happy as it was different. When she turned round I didn’t want to. She said that with the cars going by she wasn’t all that happy walking there if she didn’t have to, but I thought it was rather good with different smells and things to see too. She is now planning to sit down with me to negotiate how regularly we can go back to the spots that are nearby and how often she will have to take the car so we can go somewhere else. I’m willing to compromise… once we’ve covered everywhere in a ten mile radius that is relatively dog free, quiet and interesting. At least next week will be sorted as being away from home there will be lots of different places to walk and I’ll even be happy to do a quick tour of our local walks when I get back, just to make sure I haven’t missed anything. Actually, I’m really rather excited about having been a promised a walk where I used to walk when I was a puppy. I never really got tired of it round there.
