Saturday 14th June 2014 – Friday 13th

My Mistress had a Friday 13th she will remember for a very long time. Imagine the scene. Having picked her friend up from the Isle of Wight Ferry she wanted to ‘quickly’ check in to her bed and breakfast for the night before they went off to find a coffee. She drove into a village in the middle of nowhere and first of all could not find the place. Easy, why didn’t she ring them? No phone signal. She found an old fashioned call box so she went to ring from there, except although it was not a library as ours is in the village, it was only taking emergency calls and being lost is not perhaps what they had in mind. She went and knocked on a door and received directions to an isolated spot out of the village. When she got there all she found was a woman who spoke not a word of English who had no idea what she was talking about and a man who spoke the same amount of no English. Eventually she was shown to a room that was not made up and was not the one she had booked. Then through sign language she was shown the right room, but various things were not clear including the promised wifi. Anyway, my Mistress borrowed the house phone to ring the booking company and after 4 phone calls and more gestures which took an hour they ascertained the woman was Romanian and the booking company found someone who spoke Romanian in Amsterdam to talk to the woman but they then hung up without telling my Mistress what had happened. It took over an hour to ascertain someone would be here later and in the end My Mistress went off without leaving her cool box that she planned to plug in as the Romanian woman would not let her keep the key to the room. It was one of those perfect eerie settings for a horror movie and to make it worse when my Mistress did return the main house was open but no one came when she knocked. She went into the kitchen and shouted but still no one came so it was even more eerie. Fortunately she went to walk Shadow and Ari and when she got back she found a lady and it did all get sorted, but not before my Mistress had completely lost her temper with the woman. Who had apparently spent the afternoon stuck on the motorway with a blown out tyre, so was none too thrilled with her day either.

If you are reading his on Saturday, it is the result of her sitting outside the owner’s house at 9.30 at night trying to get a signal on their wifi, so she could log me on. If you aren’t readying it until a day or two later, then it maybe that despite everything… she failed!

All that was after seeing one particular Portsmouth roundabout from three different directions in try to collect her friend. Today will be a better day!
