You know that happy feeling when your career is going well? That’s what I am feeling now. I am making really good progress with writing the Pet Dogs Democratic Party Manifesto ready for its launch. I can’t tell you what it is yet, but I’ve also bought a web address for the party so that people can join on line. Membership will be by donation to party funds with a suggested amount, which will of course be higher for cats. I’ve had a bit of a discussion with my Mistress about how the money raised should be used and we’ve had a small difference of opinion. I said as there were people making money out of selling acres of the moon, which of course they did not own, then there was nothing morally wrong with me earning money from party membership. In reality it would just be the party paying me a salary for my work. She doesn’t entirely see it the same way and said we may discuss it later. I will of course be needing campaign funds so the amount left over may be relatively small. Anyway, I’ve finished writing the introduction and am now on the section on education, which as you can imagine is a very important point. I see the party as a way of engaging in politics people who have not before felt a leaning in that direction. It would of course be nice to draw members away from the other parties but there are such a large number who don’t even vote that we’ve got plenty to go at and unlike other parties we welcome dogs, humans and other animals without prejudice. The major parties usually bring out their policies at their conferences which I think are in the autumn, so I may be able to do something similar. I just hope I get equal press coverage with the other parties.
