Saturday 3rd May 2014 – The reason she needs a dog

I have discovered one of the reasons our Mistress needs a dog. It’s to stop anyone deciding she is clinically insane. I caught her yesterday talking to herself at great length and actually holding a whole two sided discussion. She’s always said it’s us she’s talking to and I’ve been happy to accept that for the last eight and a half years. Now I’m not so certain. I know you can get webcams to go on dog collars so you can see what we are doing when you aren’t there, but I’m thinking of getting one for a human so I can keep tabs on her behaviour when she’s on her own. To be honest I think someone should!

I should take time out to say that Thursday was a sad day at the end. We had a phone call to say that Charlie, an Entlebucher who was 11 years old had died. I only met him the once, but he was a nice chap and did make me feel welcome as it was not long after I’d come to England. He was one of the first litter born in this country and has a number of brothers and sisters still alive, although he’d lost his parents a while ago. It means our numbers have gone down to 50 again.

We still don’t know how Megan is doing as the result of her progesterone test was not back when we last spoke to our friends in Switzerland. We should hear over the weekend. We really need some more to keep our numbers up. It isn’t easy trying to develop a breed and do it properly. Perhaps it will be good news and that will cheer all of us up, especially my Mistress who is feeling very down about it all at the moment.
