Thursday 24th April 2014 – Hard to relax

You know those times when you hear buzzing and you recognise that it isn’t a fly or a bee and so by process of elimination and experience you just know it’s a wasp? Well it happened yesterday. I heard it buzzing into the office. I didn’t see it and I didn’t hear it buzz out again. I knew it must be here somewhere but I had no idea where. I didn’t want to sit down or put my paw on anything in case I came into contact with it. I just froze where I was, knowing that sooner or later it would have to show itself. It drove me half crazy for the afternoon and didn’t actually come out at all. It has to be somewhere, it can’t just disappear. Now I’m worried it’s asleep somewhere and will wake up when I least expect it.

It was hard to concentrate on anything yesterday with the thought of the wasp and a man with a chain saw cutting down a tree in a neighbouring property. Aristotle barked at the tree-man for the first twenty minutes but thankfully did get bored with that after a while. He kept watch, just in case he needed to bark again. I was too busy worrying where the wasp had gone to worry about the tree-man.

My Mistress wants to know why she didn’t take up an easy hoppy like climbing Everest instead of developing our breed of dog in the UK. It really does seem that for every step forward she has to take at least two backwards and it is very frustrating. One of the dogs already in the country who was going to breed has had to pull out for health reasons and it really isn’t good news. I suppose anything worthwhile is never easy and to be fair she stands absolutely no chance of climbing Everest, she grumbles walking up the hill from the village!
