Wednesday 23rd April 2014 – A sobering thought

I should just say Happy St George’s Day before I tell you my traumas.

My Mistress broke some earth shattering news to me yesterday. Obviously in the scheme of things it is not that important to anyone else, but to me it is not good in a big way. Shadow was going to be helping my Mistress with the breeding seminar they are running in a couple of weeks’ time. However, her season is due to start any day now so it won’t be appropriate for her to go. If that is the case, which it looks as though it is then my Mistress will need a stand-in to take Shadow’s place. I know what you’re thinking, playing the part of a girl dog in a breeding seminar is not good for my ego, but to be honest that is the least of my worries. The worst bit is some of the things I will be used to demonstrate such as taking a dog’s temperature. ‘Can’t you get one of those thermometers that goes in the ear?’ I said. But no, it seems I will be having a thermometer inserted where I would rather it weren’t. Not just once either, she has some weird notion that I should be getting used to it before my big day and so I will be ‘practicing’ in the few days leading up to it. I said couldn’t Aristotle help instead but she seems to think I will be more compliant. Don’t even get me started about being asked to demonstrate the position of the girl dog in relation to the boy. I think the part of the boy is being played by Dickens, I’m just hoping he will be gentle with me!

Megan has now finished mating with Rino. It has gone well and she did mate more than once. She is already quite convinced that this is her time and is resting with her paws up. She is having her progesterone tested again to make sure it doesn’t go down again as it needs to stay high now in order for her to carry the puppies to term. Good luck Megan.
