Tuesday 22nd April 2014 – Hormones

Please will Shadow’s season start soon? There is only so much any chap can take. She is passed the playful stage onto the ‘dog on a hot tin roof’ stage. She is wired, there’s no other way to describe it. Every noise, every movement – she gets over excited. Heaven forbid that the window cleaner should come in the next couple of days. She’s bad enough at the best of times when he is here. At the moment when she plays with Aristotle the play gets out of hand within minutes of them starting. If we aren’t careful things are going to go flying. In the past she has varied between 26 weeks and 3 days and 31 weeks and 4 days. So far she has reached 26 weeks and 5 days – please don’t let her carry on to 31 weeks this time. I don’t think I could take it. It’s a nightmare when we go out for a walk too. I feel obliged to attempt to cover her scent. She is now stopping to pee every few yards to let all the neighbourhood boys that she is available. It gives me an awful lot of peeing to do and sometimes I get carried away and pee on her as well unless someone pulls her away in time. I’ve having to drink more just to make sure I’ve got an adequate reservoir. Anyway, I’m thinking of asking if she would mind if I sit in the front room out of the way until she returns to being a normal adult dog again. It’s just that that is where my Mistress is sending her when her playing with Aristotle gets too much for all of us, so she sees it as her room and isn’t all that good at sharing at the best of times.
