Monday 17th March 2014 – a good day

Yesterday was a good day all round. I had a leisurely day with my grandparents, while the others went off to have a day with lots of other dogs. I spent the morning sitting outside in the garden with Grandpa and then the afternoon indoors relaxing. Shadow was happy as she won the biscuit race, which she has never won before and Aristotle won pass the parcel. Ari didn’t do at all well in the fetching the ball game, but as he said, he’s never allowed to play ball because of his bad leg so he just doesn’t think of balls in the same way as the rest of us. It was funny having such a lovely warm sunny day when last year it snowed and we had to be indoors. To be fair it was hot and sunny the year before, so two out of three isn’t bad.

Despite having a lovely day I was very pleased to see our Mistress again when she came to pick me up. I know she wouldn’t leave me, but it can be worrying just once in a while, the thought that she might.

I think we were all tired by the time we got home. My Mistress did all the driving and was really ready to go to bed. However she couldn’t do that until she had done her German practice. She has been doing a little every day for the last month and has got as far as a 198 word vocabulary. She can say ‘Ich habe ein Haustier, es ist ein Hund.’ Which means ‘I have a pet, he is a dog.’ Thankfully that is not all she can say, but she has yet to string very many useful sentences together and can only speak in the present tense.
