Yesterday was a day of frenetic activity. That was my Mistress’s way of dealing with Chekov leaving and the whole puppy experience coming to an end once again. Chekov got off ok and we heard he’d arrived in his new home later in the day and was doing fine. My Mistress was less fine and was very sad. All of the puppy pen was cleaned out and put away. The furniture was moved back into position. The washing was done. The puppy toys were repaired before being put away. She even started spring cleaning, which is a worrying sign. Then, to fill her need to nurture something, she went round and attended to all the house plants, which given they have been ignored for months was no mean feat. The newspaper stocks are depleted. The plastic bag cupboard is empty. The puppy pen is safely back in the summerhouse and my Mistress needs to catch up on all the things she is behind with. My Master suggested she should put her feet up for a couple of days. Now, if you know my Mistress, she doesn’t understand what normal people mean by ‘putting her feet up’. Read a book, do a crossword, do nothing, watch tv… none of that is in her nature. She’s had an idea, which is always dangerous. She is also working hard looking ahead at how we develop our breed here and is likely to look at importing a new puppy for our household. Then of course, it is Crufts next week. She and Aristotle will be on the Discover Dogs stand some of the day and supporting Basil and Dickens as they go into the show ring for the first ever Crufts where an Entlebucher can show. Addie was supposed to be there too, but sadly her owner has hurt her shoulder and won’t be able to do the long drive down south. Shadow and I are not going. Shadow is having a well earned rest, she does know the meaning of putting her paws up! And I am not so good in busy environments and can’t cope with people playing with my sensitive ears. You can do anything to Aristotle and he won’t mind.
We’re still living off the puppy pictures from Chekov’s photo shoot. Here’s another lovely one of him.
