Tuesday 18th February 2014 – Day 52 in the little puppy house

T minus 1

Good morning pups,

Today is your last full day of playing together all six of you. You may never all be together again. Of course we hope that you get that chance but given you are going far north and south it is perhaps unlikely. You’ve all played so nicely together that if you really understood I think you would be quite sad today. I just hope that with all the fun you will face in your new homes it doesn’t feel too lonely without all your brothers and sisters. We are really sad too. You’ve been a pleasure to look after and we are very proud of all of you. You might have your mad moments and poo in copious amounts, but you have been a pleasure to look after and it has been a privilege to watch you grow. We’ve had so many emails from people who are going to miss the daily updates on how you are all doing. You really have quite a fan club out there.

On the weighing front, I think my Mistress has conceded it only makes sense to weigh the three lighter pups today. The big ones are now so heavy that the pillowcase rips a little more every time they are put in it for weighing. They are all eating and gaining well, so it is time to let go of some of the little rituals. Now I’ve said that it still wouldn’t surprise me if my Mistress can’t let go quite so easily and carries on trying to weigh them. We have other pillow cases I suppose.

This morning thankfully it isn’t raining and the windows are open to try to reduce the smell. The puppies are playing madly as I write this and show no sign of settling down for a nap. They now have much longer periods of play and much shorter times of sleeping, except on growing days when they can sleep all day.

My Mistress is at last planning to abandon her utility room bedroom and go back to her own bed. She has so enjoyed being near the puppies but it is time to let go. The puppies don’t need her nearby anymore. She will probably not sleep very well tonight for worrying about them, but they will be fine. It’s going to be hard for Shadow to see them go too. I IMG_1100think it may be quite subdued in our house for the next week or so. In the meantime we need to make the most of today while we still have them all.

Today’s picture is Cuddles having a lovely time with my Master last night.
