Monday 10th February 2014 – Weigh in, video and pupdate Casanova

Weight gains still feel as though they are hard work. Chekov is no concern. He added 170g to reach 4290g and nor for that matter is Cracker, who added 130g to reach 4240g. Cinderella is not far behind having added 110g to reach 4180g. The others all had reasonable gains but below 100g. Casanova added 90g to reach 3900g. Cosette, even getting special treatment and keeping Cuddles company at feeding time, only added 90g to reach 3690g. Despite every effort Cuddles only added 70g to reach 3220g. She is gaining and she is doing everything she should, but the gains are slower than we would have thought. She now weighs less than the lightest from our first litter, by 270g. That might be accounted for in her being lighter than Adrienne at birth but it is still frustratingly hard work to get her to eat. She doesn’t concentrate on meals. My Mistress is reminded of Shadow as a puppy. It was torture getting her to eat and she never has been very food driven so maybe Cuddles just takes after her mum and we are worrying over nothing. She could do a lot worse than grow up to be like her mother.

Today’s video shows that all you need to have fun is another puppy and some newspaper. You can see it here http://youtu.be/XUfZPnMoRKU

In an attempt to get Cuddles focussed on eating, my Mistress is trying to feed her in the big ben and the others in the little pen. It is a bit of a squeeze for the others with the big feeder, but at least they are less phased by being in different surroundings. Cosette is still keeping Cuddles company while she eats, so she is getting a milkier diet too.

IMG_0994 CasanovaToday’s pupdate is Casanova. Normally we take a photo on the day of the pupdate, but the one in the garden yesterday was so lovely that we thought you’d like to see that one. Casanova was busy investigating the sun loungers and their potential to be hidden behind.
