One or more puppy has an upset tummy. We know that Cosette was a little bit loose yesterday but we think there may be a second or third puppy. It is a bit like a ‘who dunnit?’ but the crime is the mess left behind. We have found out that Casanova is fine and so are at least two others – but we don’t know who. The suspicion is that it is
the result of the wormer on Saturday which makes it most likely that Chekov is ok as he spat most of his out! No one seems ill. They are all eating well and bouncing around. None of them are curled up or unhappy or grizzling. My Mistress is trying to keep a very careful eye to see if she can catch anyone else pooing so that she can work out who it is to have them checked. She is most likely to get them probiotics to settle them. It usually does the trick – there is no sign that there is anything wrong other than somebody’s tummy didn’t tolerate something. Taking them all to the vet is hard work at this age as they all wriggle and together weigh about 20kg. They don’t all fit in the small pet carrier anymore. It means taking the big crate which is impossible for one person to carry. Given that they do not seem to be ill, the main thing is to make sure they are adequately hydrated. We have had problems after worming puppies before. It just takes a day or two to settle down.
They have visitors today. My human granny and granddad are coming. Granddad is 88 and it’s a long journey but he can’t bear the thought of not meeting them all so they are coming up on the train. He loves looking after us.
There’s a new eating regime at their supper meal. They all get moved out to the little pen and then the food goes in. Then they come back one by one with the smallest getting chance to eat first. I think my Mistress may do that at more than just supper to try to kick start the smaller ones into gaining a little more. It was much easier for Cuddles Cosette and Casanova to get to the bowls when they weren’t having to compete with the other three.
