Wednesday 22nd January 2014 – Day 25 in the little puppy house

IMG_0817 (2)The puppies are getting all grown up. It’s amazing watching them changing by the day. Yesterday afternoon they got to try baby food in the mix for the first time. Initially they were very uncertain about their ‘chicken dinner’ but by the evening they were a bit more interested and had a decent meal. In fact they ate so much at 10pm that they slept right through until 5am this morning when they were quite ready not just to eat, but to pounce on their chicken dinner from all directions. Some are more enthusiastic than others, but as long as my Mistress is patient they eventually eat almost the whole tray of food and everyone has had some. They are still eating from one of the baking tins but it seems to be working very well for them as they can all climb in it at the same time.

By the time Shadow did go in with them she was leaking milk absolutely everywhere.

Whilst they were eating yesterday I poked my nose in properly to say hello and we all had a lovely moment sniffing each other and introducing ourselves. Ari has spent more time near them so they already know what he smells like.

There are no visitors today so they will have some other new experiences to try. They have already been listening to talking books with different people reading them so they get used to different voices, but today they are going to be trying some music and at some point the vacuum cleaner. The more things they experience now and know as normal, the better balanced they will be as they get older. The next few weeks are crucial in their development and to honest it’s fun introducing them to different things each day and see them learning.

I love this photo. It is not staged – the puppy really has got under the vet bed and is using it as a duvet – You are going to ask which one it is, but with this much showing and not wanting to wake them it is hard to tell.
