We have success! All the puppies are now happily lapping food – some are more enthusiastic that others but it’s a start. It’s such a success that last night they had supper at 9.30pm and it was my Mistress who woke them for a meal at 3.15am as she hadn’t heard a squeak out of them. Then they went back to sleep until 7.30am when Shadow went to check on them and woke them up. We had checked Casanova’s weight last night and he was completely back on track so we are hoping for a good result later this morning. I know there are only five of the six in the photo but they tend to wander up to the food and then wander away at intervals and come back. They are rarely all there at the same time. They still feed from Shadow after the meal and then my Mistress checks that no one needs a bottle too, but it is great news and means we can start changing the mix little by little towards eating puppy food.
Shadow is more interested in cleaning up after them than she is in feeding them, but under duress she will stay long enough to give them some milk too.
We’re moving the video camera so we can take a picture from a better angle and I may be able to bring you the next mealtime to show you want happens.
