It was a difficult night. Yesterday Shadow had so much milk we didn’t know what to do with it all. So overnight my Mistress did not prepare any extra bottles. The puppies fed at 1am and did ok, but then after a 5am feed Cinderella would not got back to sleep and my Mistress concluded she was still hungry. She tried to put her on her own back with Shadow, only to find that Shadow didn’t have any milk. At 5.40 this morning my Mistress had to go to prepare a bottle for Cinderella and eventually got her back to sleep at 6.20am. She is not feeling so good today and is not expecting good weight gains. The puppies were very picky with the bowls of food and then were eating from Shadow so we will see. At least if Shadow is short of milk then they might start taking to the gruel a bit better. They are all fine though and as I write this they are sleeping, although sadly our Mistress is not!
They are having a quiet day today without visitors. They are moving up to the big pen in the office on a permanent basis and their bed is moving up there too. It’s a bit of a hassle sorting it all out but hopefully it will all work out ok. The whelping box is not heavy it’s just awkward to manoeuvre when it’s built. It does mean our newspaper consumption starts to go up but it also means we are back with our Mistress more of the time and get to see how the puppies are doing so it is very exciting.
