It was a funny weigh in – in many regards. First of all a puppy came out weighing a lot less then yesterday but then my Mistress realised it still had a paw on the ground. Then a puppy had gained so much she had to check several times to make sure she had the right puppy and then there was the wormer! Oh there was the wormer. Any of you who have ever tried to get worming solution into the mouth of a three week old puppy and get them to swallow it may be able to picture the scene. The wormer is pink – my Mistress’s pyjamas were pink. The puppies paws were pink, their whiskers were pink, the baby monitor was pink… Basically you squirt it into their mouths a little at a time to make sure if they spit it back they don’t spit all of it out. Then you hope they swallow it, which is the case most of the time but not all! To take the taste away my Mistress then offered them a bowl of gruel to lap from and they all got on with it. To get them interested she has mixed some of the old formula that they really like in with the new one to get them used to it. She will adjust the proportions of old and new over the next couple of days until they are completely on the new stuff. That plan, at least, seems to be working so far.
Cinderella and Cosette have found it much harder to get milk from their mum and have been guzzling formula. The others have mainly relied on their mum in the last 24 hours and you can see the difference. Cinderlla is now heaviest. She is 1890g having added 130g. Chekov is in second place but only added 40g to reach 1870g. Cracker added 80g to reach 1860g – so those three are all very close in weight. Casanova added 80g to reach 1780g but it was Cosette who made my Mistress do several checks. She added 140g and is now a very respectable 1760g. Little Cuddles continues to prefer her mother’s milk but she is doing just fine. She added 50g to reach 1490g.
