Wednesday 8th January 2014 – Day 11 in the Little Puppy House

IMG_0669 (2)It’s a good day today. Aristotle is home and excited to be here. Shadow is now eating properly and has enough milk for all 6. The puppies are getting into more of a routine with reasonable gaps between meals and their eyes are beginning to open. There was a point yesterday when they would not shut up with their little barking, but now after meals they very quickly settle down for a nice sleep until it’s time to wake up and eat again. They all had their first manicure last night with their tiny little razor claws being reduced to blunt edges in the interest of Shadow and my Mistress’s health. For the most part they cooperated. We are looking forward to today’s weigh in to see how much has been gained with relatively little supplement in the last 24 hours.

With the routine the night time is giving my Mistress more sleep than she has been getting and other than being up for about 20 minutes to half an hour at midnight, 2am and 5am she does get to sleep from 10.30 to 7am, which is more than she gets some normal nights! Shadow does not get up in the night until she is made to. That has always been a problem from when the puppies are about 7 days old. She likes her sleep in is reluctant to disturb it for anybody, even her own children. It means the nights involve my Mistress hauling herself out of bed and then hauling Shadow out and getting her to get in with the puppies. Still she’s used to it by now.
