The puppies are 9 days old today and starting to pee and poo without assistance. That is a very important step for them I can tell you! It does mean the amount of clearing up that my Mistress has to do increases, but she really doesn’t mind at all. Up to this point Shadow does it all – which may sound disgusting to a human but is very normal to dogs. Over the next few days their ears and eyes will begin to open and they will start to walk rather than crawl. At some point, probably in about another week, they will start to be able to lap food rather than just suck and at that point life gets a whole load easier on the feeding front and we move into the mass production of puppy mush!
Today’s pupdate is on Cosette. Although she was only 14g less than Casanova at birth, she is almost 150g lighter than he is now but is progressing well. She is not so enthusiastic to take the bottle as some of the others and is far less at risk of making the question ‘does my bum look big in this?’ impossible to answer than either of her sisters Cinderella or Cracker. It is quite difficult to get pictures of the pups in anything other than eating or sleeping positions at the moment. I said to my Mistress she could do a ‘selfie’ holding Cosette but she says she does not look her best in her pyjamas which have puppy dribble all down them. So here are the pictures – on the left Cosette at 3 days old and on the right Cosette at 9 days old. She really is rather cute.
