You can find today’s video here – they were a little quieter today, but I think that’s partly because they were managing to find milk. http://youtu.be/rISu_NV-d6k
Judging by the weigh in we are not completely clear on the milk front yet. We look at the weight gain of each puppy, the average weight gain across the litter, but more importantly we also look at the total weight gain of the litter and compare it to previous years. If Shadow’s milk yield is good enough then the total gain should be at least as good or better than in previous years as that comparison is irrespective of the number of puppies in the litter. The total gain the day before yesterday, before the troubles began, was 350g. By rights that should be increasing day by day as the puppies grown and Shadow produces more milk to satisfy demand. However, it was only 272g yesterday and although it has improved it has only gone to 298g today and some of that must have come from the formula they had rather than from Shadow.
As to the individual weights; Chekov is up to 828g, an increase of 66g. Casanova added 64g to get to 806g. Casanova’s puppy warts are unchanged. They have not spread or got worse and we are hoping they will just disappear in time – most of them are on the inside of his left front leg, so you don’t even see them unless you look very closely and, in my Mistress’s case, take your glasses off! Cracker is still the heaviest girl, she is up to 768g an increase of 46g. Cinderella is next –she was definitely still looking for food last night so it is no surprise she is only up by 30g and is now 702g. Cosette added 44g to reach 664g and little Cuddles did very well adding 48g to reach 570g.
We are still some way from the risk of their being rolled on subsiding. That is the point that my Mistress begins to relax a little and gets a better sleep.
