Friday 3rd January 2014 – Meet the Pup – Cracker

IMG_0633

Cracker is our little Christmas Cracker. She was the last to be born and had it not been for Shadow receiving an injection from the vet she is highly unlikely to be with us. When she was born there was a moment of panic as Shadow didn’t seem to accept her. Whether it was through tiredness or the just that things seemed to have stopped and Shadow thought her litter was complete, I don’t know. It took our friend Avril rubbing Cracker and then representing her to Shadow at intervals to get her to start to be involved. My poor Mistress was upset at having lost Crimble and was a bit of a wreck at the thought of losing another one. When Shadow finally took over and took Cracker into the litter and cleaned and nursed her I think we all shed a little tear of relief. Since then there has been no holding her back and she has been the largest of the girls throughout. She has lovely short even white socks at the front, exactly as they should be. In fact my Mistress thinks this may be our best marked litter so far, except for little Cuddles having a bit more white. We just need to wait and see how their tails do.

Earlier, we had a little look at the timelapse photos so far. The lighting is not great, so they aren’t the best pictures, but they are good enough to get the idea of the changes. When we have more time my Mistress says she might try to put a little video sequence together of the story so far. It will be much better when they move up to the pen in the office as there are more windows up there so it should be a better image.

Today’s pictures are Cracker at birth and now.
