Never underestimate the intelligence of your dog. Shadow had no sooner heard my Mistress explaining to me that the problem was that Shadow did not seem to be eating and particularly drinking enough when Shadow pricked her ears up and said she would do something about it right away. She promptly drank a large drink of water and ate a bowl of food and low and behold things have already started to improve we think. Shadow then complained she was finding the room a little hot. It’s very hard to balance the temperature for the puppies. They can’t regulate their temperature yet so either they need the room to be very warm or to cuddle up to Shadow or failing either of those to go onto the heat pad. We have been getting the balance ok on the whole, but I don’t know whether the outside temperature has changed but it’s not going quite so well on that front today.
Chekov only gained 30g since yesterday and is now 762g. It was clear in the night he would have eaten more if it were available, but he’s still doing ok and had had a big gain the day before. It is quite possible that Cracker and Casanova had drunk Shadow dry as she gained 62g to reach 722g and he added 64g to get to 742g. Cinderella put on a respectable 42g to reach 672g. Cosette was crying earlier and would probably have liked a little more. She only gained 32g to reach 620g. Cuddles did ok. She gained 42g and is now a more respectable 522g.
