Shadow is showing the early stages of stage one labour with some very light contractions starting. There’s nothing much and no real sign of moving on yet. It could easily be the morning before we move on to stage 2, although it may be sooner. It’s funny watching her muscles sending little waves down her abdomen. She is moving around very little and just lying down wanting it all to be over. She’s more comfortable on the stone floor than on anything too warm, but we want her in the whelping box for the birth. She’s eaten a little through the day and her tummy seems to have settled down again. She was delighted to have some of the steak that was my Master’s birthday tea. I was less impressed that I didn’t get so much as it was given to Shadow.
