Monday 23rd December 2013 – The Naming of Pups

As yesterday was a quiet day with no exciting activity we looked again at the list of prospective names. You know what it’s like, one day you like one thing and then the next you like something else. Anyway, we sat down with both my Master and Mistress and have a list of boys and girls names numbered one to eight. I think that should cover us for every eventuality. In order the boys will be Casanova, Chekov, Chuckles, Chaos, Cholmondeley (pronounced Chumley!), Che, Cosmos and Cupid. The girls will be Cinderella, Crimble, Crumble, Cuddles, Cracker, Chancer, Calypso and Cloud. Of course we aren’t expecting there to be anywhere near 16 pups but we are covered if the litter is all boys or all girls. I said they are taking a bit of a risk calling a puppy Chaos. There is a serious risk he may decide he has to live up to his name. I think that they are hoping that Cinderella will help with all the work and I already know that Cuddles would live up to her name if we get that far in the naming.

Father Christmas was on the village green yesterday afternoon. Aristotle begged to be taken again as he went and had his photo with Santa two years ago and he still believes in him. I’m past all that so said I would stay at home to care for Shadow. It’s nice she likes having me around at times like this. I think it makes her feel safe, although what she thinks I would do if there were a problem is anybody’s guess. We are all sleeping in the utility, my Mistress, Shadow and me. It’s a bit cosy but we are all content. Ari is fed up as he is going off to kennel today. There is only so much bouncing puppy you can take when there are little ones being born. He was very good last year but then he wasn’t full grown and wasn’t quite so full of bounce. He’s fed up that he won’t be the first to see his brothers and sisters but that can’t be helped.

  1. Just a note for Ari, hope you have a good time in the kennels. I am sure everyone will make a fuss of you as it is Christmas. Be a good boy and you will soon be home.
