Why is it that when the weather gets stormy animals become hyperactive? I’m not sure if it’s something to do with the barometric pressure. It’s a bad combination as the drop in barometric pressure tends to give our Mistress tinnitus and a fuzzy head. When you combine that with a hyperactive combination it is a recipe for disaster. Yesterday wouldn’t have been so bad if the window cleaner’s brushes hadn’t taken Aristotle by surprise. When you are in the office, which is halfway between ground and first floor levels and a brush appears at the window from apparently out of nowhere, you can be forgiven for being surprised. He wasn’t just surprised, he tried launching himself at the window to get the brush and wasn’t satisfied until he had completely seen them off the premises. To my discredit I started to join in and I really should know better.
Today is exciting as we have the survey for fitting a stove in the office. We all think it’s an excellent idea and have volunteered to sit in front of it all day. It won’t actually be fitted until after the puppies go off to their new homes, but it will be nice to dream. The only stumbling block might be the overhanging tree. My Mistress is a little worried about the possibility of setting fire to it. I said she could use it as extra fire wood, but it turns out it isn’t actually our tree.
It’s funny all the odd jobs that get done in the few days before puppies are due. It’s a time when my Mistress thinks ‘if I don’t do that now then it could be weeks before I do it,’ and promptly gets lots of jobs done. The latest is to change the lock on the front door. In fairness I do understand why she’s doing it as her key keeps bending in the lock and she has to buy new ones, but still, it’s odd timing.
