Long discussions took place late last week about Aristotle’s role in the proceedings over the next couple of weeks. He argued that as the puppies would be his brothers and sisters then he should be here for the birth. Shadow said she didn’t mind either way as long as she got some peace and quiet. I seconded the call for peace and quiet but without any real justification. It was my Master who said he thought it might be best if Ari were to go to kennels. My Mistress had been thinking it but felt mean sending him for Christmas and New Year. However a decision has been reached and Ari is to go to the kennels where he can have lots of fun playing with all the other dogs and generally causing mayhem, while the rest of us have a quiet Christmas which will be rather less stressful as a result of his absence. I’m hoping it will also give chance for my back and neck to really improve while he’s away too. He has to go next Monday as they are not open to admissions over Christmas itself. He looked at me very sadly and asked if I could make sure our Mistress saved him some turkey and all in all I said it was the least I could do.
When examining Shadow to see how she is doing my Mistress found a small lump. She’s hoping it’s just a fatty deposit like mine but she needs to get it checked. She’s ringing the vet this morning to see how soon they can see her. We really don’t need her being ill at this stage, she has a very important job to do.
Our Mistress has apologised to Shadow for the fact that it is nearly time to start taking her temperature regularly again. Shadow is very Stoic about having a thermometer pushed into her bottom. You wouldn’t find me being quite as cooperative as that!
