The tree is not small. I knew it wouldn’t be. It is in its holder, reaching the ceiling and filling the hall, but so far is just a tree – no decorations, no angel, no lights. In theory that is all going to happen today. However, in practice my Mistress seems to have stacked up a lot of jobs to do today and I can’t see the tree making it to the top of the list. She did achieve some other things yesterday, so it wasn’t just a case of being lazy. Her proudest moment was fixing the oven door. It wasn’t sealing properly and the handle was loose. To fix it meant taking the door apart and I for one did not have confidence in her ability to get it all back together ok. I was wrong. The proof will be when she cooks with it later but the handle is no longer loose and it certainly looks ok. She also managed to move the leg under the worktop in the utility. This had to be achieved so that Aristotle could have a bigger crate. He is very excited as it went without hitch and his new crate is on order. He says he doesn’t mind about my new bed so much now he is having a present as well. I’m just glad he didn’t get any ideas about wanting my bed as I’m not willing to give that up to anyone. It’s perfect and I’m wondering how I managed so long without it. My Mistress proved to my Master that it was big enough for her. At that point, I said ‘ok then I’ll have your bed, that’s a fair exchange’, but I was not prepared to swap with Aristotle, his isn’t nearly so good.
