Friday 15th November 2013 – An exciting weekend

We have got two human friends coming to see us this weekend and one of them is really coming to see us just as much as the humans. To be fair it is mainly Shadow she is coming to see. She’s going to be here when the puppies are born so she can see what happens before her own dog has puppies next year and she wants to get to know Shadow first. Shadow is feeling quite self-important as she doesn’t have many visitors come just to see her. She says she is going to do her best to tell her everything she knows about having puppies and Ari says he’s ready to tell her from his point of view what Shadow was like as a mum. I said he ought to save that for the psychologist but he didn’t see the funny side of it.

We had one of those days yesterday when we were very annoying dogs. It wasn’t our fault. We live in a very quiet place so when there is something going on it makes it all very exciting. We don’t need much. There was the dog at the bottom of the garden who had a day of being outside barking at intervals, so we felt obliged to join in. Then there was the window cleaner and a couple of deliveries, all of which are guaranteed to set us off. To be fair we were all on edge after the film we watched on my birthday. Three times in the film there were dogs barking, but they didn’t actually appear on screen. Well, you can imagine. My Mistress told us they were only on the television but as we couldn’t see them, none of us were convinced and have been on guard in case there are other dogs living in our house that we weren’t aware of. Then the battery went in a smoke alarm so at intervals it was making a high pitched beep and my Mistress was going round the house trying to work out which one it was and was getting really annoyed as it only beeped when she was standing somewhere else. She said when she did find it she planned to take a mallet to it rather than change the battery.
