I promised to bring you some photos from the Fun Day last Saturday and today is the one of all the dogs together. Unfortunately by the time this was taken, one or two had already gone home. There were 19 dogs there altogether, which is the most we’ve ever had. We have sent all the dads photos of their children to show how they are growing up. It made me think sadly of my own dad and wish I could have seen him even once in his life. I want my Mistress to take Aristotle to Switzerland one time so that he can have the chance to meet his father. She said she will certainly think about it. Shadow hasn’t met her dad either, but she’s not entirely sure where he lives. I’m not sure if he moved from Switzerland to Austria or Slovakia. She met a new puppy who only came into the UK a few months ago who she is quite closely related to as her father is the puppy’s great grandfather.
Anyway, the excitement of that is over and it’s time to get back to the more routine matters of life, like waiting for Shadow to start her season. It really can become a very undignified process with my Mistress wanting to check her every morning to see if there is any sign yet. Frankly it’s enough to put me off my breakfast. I know it’s important to know exactly when she starts and there are plans to make, but could she not just wait for Shadow to tell her she’s ready? We’re all really hoping that she doesn’t start until after the 15th October as my Mistress says after that the risk of them being born on Christmas Day will have reduced and I really wouldn’t like to find it was my job to cook the turkey while Shadow gives birth.
