Friday 6th September 2013 – Invasion

I looked out of the kitchen window earlier to see a caterpillar climbing up the other side. My Mistress killed a large spider which was clutching in its eight hairy legs a caterpillar. This is not good. I’m half expecting them to move in to my bed next and I don’t like sharing. Ari has taken a different approach. He isn’t one to be put off easily. He’s found the pile of ‘ex vegetables’ that my Mistress has discarded in trying limit the problem and he’s munching his way through them including the caterpillars. My Mistress is refusing to let him kiss her. I think rather sadly, he may be the culprit that is bringing them into the house.

My Master had his first rehearsal for the village pantomime last night. This is where our house goes into a frenzy of silly lines like ‘He’s behind you’ for no apparent reason and much to the confusion of visitors. Any statement may be randomly greeted with ‘Oh no it isn’t’, which in the middle of a serious conversation can put the speaker well and truly off their original thought.

Megan enjoyed yesterday’s walk so much that she was off and running and didn’t want to come back. I think she’d found a dead rabbit or some other delicacy but she won’t admit anything in case my Mistress won’t let her run in the same area later today. In the end my Mistress just stood behind a tree out of sight until Megan thought maybe she just ought to check she hadn’t been left behind. The problem is she won’t be caught by that ruse two days running. My Mistress said it’s not so bad if the weather is good and she can just listen to her book until Megan bothers to return. She’s still listening to Les Miserables and only has another 18 hours of the 60+ hours to go!
