My Mistress has taken drastic action with regards to the caterpillars. She has very sadly concluded that her vegetable growing has so far been an unmitigated disaster except for encouraging wildlife. The purple sprouting broccoli has been declared inedible – it would take so long to pick the caterpillars out she’s still be doing it at breakfast, either that or wouldn’t need to cook any other meat. It has been unceremoniously removed in an attempt to see if any of the carrots and parsnips can be salvaged as they weren’t getting enough light. The cauliflowers have had a lot of their outer leaves removed and my Mistress is seeing if there is any hope of their hearts still developing as they were doing so well. The fennel looks like it might be edible!
Actually yesterday saw drastic action all round. My Mistress is feeling a little out of shape. She has had to raid the pile of clothes a size up that she was hoping not to have to wear again. The good news is the jeans are much more comfortable but the bad news is she doesn’t want to wear them. Anyway, this led to a moment of sheer madness on her part. She needed some money out of the cashpoint which is over 5 miles away. Normally that leads to a quick trip in the car. Yesterday it led to a much longer trip on her bicycle. She managed 18.23km in an hour and six minutes and then when she got off she couldn’t walk because her legs had turned to jelly. She’s hoping the jelly stage is the one just before they become rather more shapely, but she’s not entirely convinced.
I wish I had got a picture of Ari yesterday as he got caught red pawed when he came in with a piece of wood still dangling from his mouth. I’ve told him time and again, if you hear someone coming either drop it and look the other way or hide it in your cheek. He’s still got a lot to learn.
Today’s photo shows just what I have to put up with. My Master went to the fancy dress at the pub as Count Dracula. He’s just a bit too realistic for my liking.
