Like the Queen, Granny is having an official birthday and it’s today. So, once again, Happy Birthday Granny. Today is a lovely meal out and I can only hope a doggie bag is brought back for us as we have not been invited. Apparently some places are not yet civilised enough to allow dogs to join their families for lunch. I think it’s shameful, but that’s how it is. Other European countries are so much advanced compared with backwards Britain, in that regard at least.
The crop of peas has been picked and frozen. You will be pleased to hear that there must enough there for at least 2 portions. To be fair, my Mistress only planted a few in pots as an after-thought and realised in a number of ways fairly early on that she may not be growing them to best advantage. Then, as I said to her, 2 portions is better than none – although only marginally so. There is rather more purple sprouting broccoli ready, so some of that has been frozen and some will be eaten. More will be frozen over the next few weeks, as long as it carries on growing. There is still not enough in the way of carrot to feed a dwarf, so there is no point in Snow White booking to bring her family round for a meal.
Megan came back from her walk excited as the crops are being harvested which means we have the brief season of stubble fields. She thinks that is absolutely the best time and likes nothing more than running round through the stubble like a mad thing. I always worry it’s going to hurt my paws, but Megan has no such qulams. Shadow likes it too, although she really likes the mud of a newly ploughed field, although the downside of that is needing to be hosed down afterwards.
