My Mistress has been ill for the last couple of days and not able to walk Megan. As a result Megan has become gradually more and more fractious until today when she was barking at every opportunity. Thankfully my Master realised the predicament and took the girls for a long walk to get them back on the straight and narrow. We really need my Mistress to get better soon or at least well enough for her daily 3 mile walk! Megan is likely to come into season very soon and won’t be able to go for walks. It’s going to have to be a very long game of ball in the back garden with the rest of us out of the way. If we all play it becomes very raucous and the plants tend to suffer. The young tree that Megan skidded into sideways has recovered, to our surprise, but can you imagine my Mistress’s reaction if the vegetables copped it? All that painstaking work for nothing would not go down well. I said that when Megan’s season starts she may as well still go for walks. It isn’t as though any of the stud dogs have managed to get her pregnant we may as well see if any of the local dogs can do any better. My Mistress told me off at that point for having an irresponsible attitude although she did begrudgingly concede I might just have a point. Crossing dogs can have some very odd results. We saw what looked like an Entlebucher crossed with a Bassett Hound on the internet and I have to say it really wasn’t a pretty sight. Our backs are long enough when set against legs of the right height, but combined with short legs and long floppy ears it looked pitiful. The sort of dog you constantly feel sorry for.
