Sunday 14th July 2013 – Whose idea was it?

Who suggested the tin with coins in to my Mistress? Who was it that said if you shake it at the dog when they are doing something you don’t like they will soon refrain from the behaviour? Well it doesn’t work with me! I ignore the tin. My Mistress did wonder if I should perhaps have my ears tested, but as I can hear the sound of a biscuit box being gently picked up from about 300 metres I don’t think that will be necessary just yet. However, the important thing is that it does seem to work with the others – so there’s hope. I will stop barking of my own accord just as soon as I can be certain none of the others is going to jump on me!

The girls were shattered after their walk yesterday. As it turned out they didn’t go quite as far as was planned as Megan just plonked herself down in the dust and said she was too hot and didn’t want to go any further. My Mistress regretted not putting her cooling coat on her and says they will definitely try it out tomorrow and hopefully set off a bit earlier so that they have a cooler start. My Mistress is still determined to walk all the way to the next village and back, which would be about a six mile round trip – they only made 4.5 yesterday so there’s still a way to go.

My Mistress is excited as the rest of the family have finally agreed to go with her on a cycling holiday next year. She got a brochure and decided she definitely wanted to do an easy one. She did one a few years ago and loved it and until now everyone here moaned they didn’t want to do it. Then yesterday they said ‘when are we going on the cycling holiday’ and it turns out that moaning about her suggestions is all a bit of a game and they think it’s a good idea really. Then you wonder why I don’t understand people!
