Friday 5th July 2013 – Not the ideal Friday

‘Have you got everything ready, Alfie?’

‘What do you mean, have I got everything ready?’

‘For kennels.’

‘What do you mean ‘for kennels’?’

This could go on all day! I’m not normally slow on the uptake, but it hadn’t occurred to me that my Mistress’s hospital visit was going to mean me going into kennels. I was expecting to be here to look after her when she came out, but apparently it was more important for me to look after Aristotle and Shadow in kennels. I’m only here until tomorrow morning, but it’s a bit like being imprisoned for a crime I didn’t commit. I’m innocent, I tell you. It wasn’t me. I wasn’t in the area when it happened!

Anyway, my Mistress has paid the price for my banishment. She wasn’t at the hospital for as long as expected and had to come home to an empty house. The worst part was that the plaster they put on her arm for the cannula was annoying her and with her other hand completely  dead and floppy, she couldn’t use it to remove the plaster, and because they put it in her vein by her elbow, she couldn’t get her teeth round to pull it off either. It’s no good turning to me for sympathy, I’ve been banished! Meanwhile, I’m sitting here twiddling my paws and thinking about the jobs I was planning to do before Megan comes back. There are bones which need burying and balls that need playing with! To be fair the bones aren’t actually mine, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me.
