My Mistress has to go to the Post Office today so I asked if she was planning to cycle again. She came up with some story about needing to go to the nearby town to pay some cheques in and buy a birthday card, but I know they are just excuses. The cheques have been sitting on her desk for the last two weeks and are no more urgent now than they were then and the shop in the village she cycled to sells birthday cards, even if there is less choice. I suspect the truth is that she hasn’t totally got over her cycling earlier in the week and is not completely ready to try again. Granted the forecast is wet weather and she has made it clear she is only prepared to cycle in the dry. I did point out to her if she hopes to go on cycling holiday next year, which she has talked about, she will need to have a little more stamina than 6.75 miles followed by several rest days!
With the weather being a bit warmer I seem to be going through a coat shedding process. I had to laugh, never has the slogan ‘Isn’t everyone wearing dog hair this season?’ (which she has on one of her Alfie Dog tshirts) been more appropriate than after I’d given her a cuddle. She even went and got the grooming mitten and gave me a good brush – a treat I enjoy but don’t really need very often. Oo it felt good – a bit like a gentle massage with something that gives you a gentle scratch at the same time. A little like dog exfoliation really. I looked much better afterwards and felt great. I didn’t want her to stop even when she’d got most of the stray hair out of my coat.
