Oh you should have seen the welcome Aristotle got from his mother. You know what mothers are and when they are a dog, well! She alternated by giving him a good sniff to make sure he was ok and to find out exactly where he had been, then she rolled him over and pinned him to the floor to make sure he hadn’t gained any ideas above his station while he was away. The truth is that she was a bit jealous. She’s taking all the stuff around Megan a bit personally and trying to make out that she doesn’t do anything which might suggest she’s the only one who can have puppies around here. I said ‘What about the times she has flown off the handle with Megan when she so much as suggested she was an equal?’ Of course, memory is a selective thing and Shadow has chosen to forget some of her interactions along those lines. In her head she is just a sweet dog who wouldn’t say boo to a goose, of course it didn’t help that I asked whether that would be before or after she’d killed the goose!
This week, rather unbelievably, it will be the summer solstice. All we need now is the sun. It would be a shame if it couldn’t put in an appearance for its own major event of the year. I feel cheated that the nights will start drawing in from later in the week – we’re still in winter, or so it feels some days and now it’s going to start getting darker again to go with it. I’ve had enough. My Mistress often looks at the weather in Switzerland and says we should move out there as they seem to have more sun. Perhaps we should just spend the summer there and go somewhere less snowy for the winter.
