Sunday 12th May 2103 – Waiting for them to return

My Mistress went to see Megan yesterday to see how she was getting on and to take her to meet the vet who will look after her for the next year. Megan was beside herself with excitement to see our Mistress. She says the family are lovely and she knows in time she’ll settle right in, but it’s stressful and strange and she’s missing everyone. One thing that she’s enjoying is having two little boys wanting to give her treats all the time. She’s getting a lot of fuss and everyone says she is really well behaved and can’t believe all the commands she knows. My Mistress felt quite proud of her. When my Mistress left her yesterday she felt quite sad but has arranged to go to see her in just a few weeks to see how she’s doing.

Ari has been having a great time with our grandparents. He slept in the bed with my Mistress, which he said is quite a squeeze given it is a single bed. He got himself comfortable though but said our Mistress was a bit restless in the night which kept disturbing him. She didn’t seem quite so enamoured with the arrangements. It will be good to have them both home a little later today, although odd that she won’t be bringing Megan. I’ve told Ari he needn’t get ideas about sleeping in the bed when he’s here. Only I get that sort of treatment on a daily basis.

This week is a big week for my Mistress as her first novel is coming out as an ebook on Thursday. It is that day to mark the first anniversary of the short story site www.alfiedog.com . It’s amazing to think how far it has come in a year. There are now over 900 short stories to choose from, by more than 240 authors. There are even some stories where the lead role is played by a dog, they are my favourites. My Mistress’s favourite is Guide Dog by Jeanne Tepper – she says it made her cry for a long time.
