Two hormonal girls, some men shouting to each other, a chain saw and a wood shredder – now just imagine how much noise we were all making as a result of that lot yesterday. In the end my poor Mistress said she was going to the butcher’s and she might be gone some time! Even I thought it all got a bit much after a while, but that didn’t stop me joining in. Looking on the bright side there is much more light coming into the office now that the trees have been cut and there are parts of the garden seeing sunshine for the first time in years, including one bit that spent all winter waterlogged and where the grass has all but given up. It will be interesting to see if it starts growing again now. Perhaps if we were to buy some grass seed and plant it and then maybe us dogs keep off that corner for a few weeks then it might stand a chance, but I’m guessing aeronautical even-toed ungulates are more likely. (You’ll be relieved to know that I did have to look that up)
The afternoon was much better. For a start the workmen had finished and then to make it almost perfect it was warm enough to have the back door open for an hour or so, which meant we could go in and out as we chose. Ari tried to take some of the remaining parts of the bones outside buy my Mistress caught him and made him bring them back. I think he was planning to bury them and then claim he needed a new bone as he didn’t seem to have any left. I doubt my Mistress would have been fooled quite that easily but you have to give him marks for trying.
