Monday 15th April 2013 – What a treat

When my Mistress collected Shadow from kennels yesterday, she decided to bring us each a treat back and so bought 4 roasted knucklebones. Oh my, I’v e never seen such a big bone in all my life. Aristotle could barely pick his up it was so large. I may be getting on in years but I do have very strong jaws and had no problem carrying mine away to a quiet corner. We were all quiet contented dogs for hours, if you discount the sound of manic chewing. I’d just like to say that I wholeheartedly recommend a good meaty roasted knuckle bone as a means of passing a few contented hours. Ari will get the most pleasure as when we’ve all finished with them he collects them up and hides them in his bed. ‘Hide’ is a relative term since we all know exactly where he has put them and in reality it’s just one of my beds that he borrows for some of the day. When I go to lie down in it, I sometimes find it particularly uncomfortable as there can be as many as fifteen bones or parts of bones lurking under the cushion.

My Master spent a frustrating afternoon mending the settee. I fear it had been used as a springboard and for once we were not responsible. To be fair I don’t think it was my Master or Mistress either. They tend to be a bit more gentle in their use of furniture. I said to my Master his time would have been much more satisfying if he’d spent it chewing a good roasted knuckle bone, but he just grunted at me. I think he might have expected me to help him with the settee but I was busy with my bone. It’s one of those things that you just can’t leave. Partly because it would be criminal to walk away from it and partly because Aristotle would steal it before I had finished!
