The puppies behaved admirably on their first night without my Mistress sleeping nearby. They are really growing up now and are great fun to be around. They seem particularly taken with Aristotle and try to get his attention at every opportunity. He’s usually willing to spend some time nose to nose with them and licking them. Britannia is the one who seems to want his company most. She really is a sweet little puppy.
The problem with them sleeping through the night is that they now spend ages playing after breakfast before settling down. That means my Mistress has to wait to clean them out and weigh them. It’s not really an issue, it’s just a job she likes to get out of the way first thing.
Worming went so much better than last time. No one spat out the mixture. Each puppy was very cooperative and had the sense to go and have a drink when they went into the pen to wash the taste away. It was pretty good going as they needed quite a lot of the mixture now they are bigger. They are still running 4 to 6 days ahead of last year’s puppies on weight, but interestingly they are slower to try to climb out of the pen and make a run for it. I can only think they are happy little puppies.
All their weight gains were good from their Christmas over-indulgence! Dickens added 130g to reach 3730g. Tucker added 120g to reach 3560g. Basil added 120g so he is now 3420g. Britannia had an eating frenzy and added 160g to reach 3430g and has overtaken Basil again. Beija really went to town, she added 230g and is now 3290g, not so very far behind the others.
