Christmas Day – midday

Given that my Mistress didn’t get to bed until gone 12.30am she was grateful that the puppies, although they woke at 4 but went back to sleep, slept until 6.30 this morning before asking for breakfast. She went back to bed afterwards and I got in, which is the best start to Christmas any dog could have. It would be a lovely morning if she didn’t insist on playing her Christmas Carol cd. Santa hasn’t been to the pups yet. I think that will be this afternoon. They are all going to have a Christmas photo taken too. Some of them have puppy albums that their new owners are putting together and they have slots for their first Christmas to put a picture in.

We are making sure they have a routine now as we need to get them onto a better pattern than they have been working to. From today they will have five meals with the aim being that they will eat at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and 11pm. It may vary a little, but that is the idea. Of course as they ate at 6.30 this morning I think my Mistress is actually going to do 10.30, 2.30, 6.30 and 10.30 today so I guess I should have said the times are from tomorrow. Tomorrow will also be the last time that Shadow feeds them twice a day. They will go down to once a day at bedtime from Thursday. Hopefully by the weekend Shadow won’t be feeding them at all and they will be on 4 meals a day.

I said they should get a day off being weighed as it’s Christmas. However, my Mistress saw it differently. Dickens is 3.6kg, up 110g. Tucker is 3440g, up 150g. Basil is now in third place at 3.3kg having added 200g – go Basil! Britannia is 3270g having added 70g and darling little Beija is past the 3kg mark at 3060g having added 140g. Tomorrow is worming day so we’ll see what happens then.
